About

Leslie Weaver, LPC

Imagine a relationship where you could talk about feelings and problems without judgement, without backlash, without gossip; talking to someone no one in your life knows. Someone who won’t spread what you say around to others; someone who believes what you say and whose opinion of you is not colored by what he/she knows or has heard about you. As a counselor, that’s the type of relationship I work diligently to provide.

My goal is to help everyone with whom I come in contact to live the quality of life that he/she seeks. My office is a comfortable, safe, affirming, non-judgmental space where you can explore, grow and change to the level that, and at the speed in which, you desire. I will not tell you what to do to solve your problems. I will, though, be honest, supportive, accepting, and thought provoking. I will actively listen to you and provide feedback. I will challenge you to examine thoughts/behaviors which may be inhibiting your growth. I will meet you where you are and walk with you through the counseling journey.

How I Can Help...

I hold a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of South Alabama. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 17 years of counseling experience. I have provided services to clients in a variety of settings and in a variety of ways. I have worked in private practice, in a college counseling center, a domestic violence center, for non-profits, and for grants; I have provided crisis intervention, performed group work, and facilitated community outreach to hundreds. I have worked with school-aged children, adolescents, and adults.

I believe in diversity and work with a diverse population of clients. I have experience in working with topics such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, adjustment issues, grief and loss, parenthood/parenting issues, codependency, women’s issues, domestic violence, relationship difficulties, adoption, infant loss, college life issues, stroke/change of independence, life transitions, identity issues, codependency, family of origin issues, caregiver care, LGBTQ+ issues, developing healthy boundaries, and trauma-related issues.

I embrace an eclectic approach, customized to each client's personal needs. This approach may include elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness integrated with other modalities. I use techniques such as cognitive restructuring, reframing, goal-setting, psychoeducation, positive self-talk, and natural conversation. I believe strongly in the counseling relationship and the benefits of modeling desired behaviors.

I live for the aha moments, the moments when a client realizes something small (or large) but very life-changing! I love my profession. I love helping others grow and achieve. Please feel free to reach out via phone, text, or e-mail. I will do my best to get back with you within 24 hours. I look forward to hearing from you!
